Tagalicious… 2017 Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag

TagaliciousHey guys! I saw this tag on youtube and it looked like a lot of fun.  I’m linking to one of the original videos for reference.

Questions:

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017.

Kylana: Start with Why by Simon Sinek, it’s a great book to help you figure out why is such an important thing to know.

Neko: Get Glad by Harry Hoover. It was a good reminder that no matter what is going on you can still choose to be happy.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017.

Kylana: ….Have I read any sequels yet? …. Oh! Happily Ever After by Kelly Oram. It was a cute sequel to her first book for the Cinderella retelling.

Neko: The Mercyverse! Almost read the whole thing twice this year already!

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

Kylana: One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus – The description says breakfast club meets pretty little liars.  Yes please 🙂

Neko: Borne by Jeff Vandermeer. Love Dystopian, but have had way too many books to read to get to it yet!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Kylana: Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo – Who isn’t excited for this book?

Neko: No idea to be honest, so many good books already out that I haven’t read yet so I try not to look for more that aren’t published.

5. Biggest disappointment.

Kylana: Heartless by Marissa Meyer – I know it’s one most people love but really I expected so much more from it. It’s made me put off reading her other books.

Neko: Five Stories High by Jonathan Oliver (editor). Was so excited when I got my hands on it way back at the beginning of the year… Still haven’t finished it some five months later…

6. Biggest surprise.

Kylana: the princess saves herself in this one by amanda lovelace – It was a book I read to review and I loved it so much. I was on such an emotional roller coaster. My poor friends got stuck with getting snippits of it as I was reading it.

Neko: Twilight/Hunger Games. These both blew my mind. I swore I would never read them and was shocked enjoy them as much as I did!

7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)

Kylana: Ashley Poston, because I couldn’t put her book down. I can’t wait to read more.

Neko: Patricia Briggs, is anyone surprised by this answer?

8. Newest fictional crush.

Kylana: Spencer from the Up Side of Unrequited because he reminds me of Spencer from Criminal Minds.

Neko: Ben from the Mercyverse. Yes he is foul mouthed and bad tempered but I just want to hug him and show him that not everyone sucks.

9. Newest favourite character.

Kylana: Meryn from My Commander by Alanea Alder. She’s sassy and doesn’t apologize for who she is.

Neko: Anna from Alpha and Omega series. She has a steel backbone, is compassionate, can admit when she is wrong, has suffered in the past but doesn’t let it control her, gives as good as she gets, and is comfortable with herself. I really admire her in the books.

10. Book that made you cry.

Kylana: I am Spock by Leonard Nimoy….Stupid audiobook being read by the author.

Neko: I cry pretty easily actually… But Maggie Elizabeth Harrington by D. J. Swykert. The funeral scene had my bawling…

11. Book that made you happy.

Kylana: Geekerella by , it was just such a great representation of fandom culture.

Neko: Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Marvin makes me happy 🐱

12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

Kylana: So I haven’t read the book yet but Hidden Figures was an amazing movie and made me want to read the book. Does that count?

Neko: I hate book to film. They change too much and it bugs me so… None this year

13. Favourite review you’ve written this year. (Booktube version: Favourite video you have done so far in this year)

Kylana: Um…..I guess Evicted by Matthew Desmond it was a challenge for me since I had a very love/hate relationship with the book.

Neko: Probably the one I wrote about all the shorts! They were just a good jumble of works and fun to write about!

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

Kylana: I don’t know if I can choose!  I guess Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser, it’s right in front of me and is really pretty.  Or Caraval by Stephanie Garber.

Neko: Heartless by Marissa Meyer. The hardback is beautiful under the sleeve.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Kylana: All of them?….Nah, I’ve actually hit my goal so really I don’t need to read any books the rest of the year but I’d like to read a couple. One being Triton’s Prophecy by Tiana Griffin.  ❤

Neko: I have close to a hundred books sitting around that I haven’t read yet including library books that I keep having to return and recheck out… But need? Just my bible.

So anyone else do this tag? What did you guys think?
