Goodreads Synopsis: Two days ago, Jo Davids was a waitress by night and a college kid by day, with the unnerving problem of things floating around her.
One day ago, Jo’s sexy boss, Cormac, noticed her for all the wrong reasons when she witnessed a man transform into a monster in the basement of his casino.
Today, Cormac ordered her shot. If he’s real lucky, she won’t die. Because if she does, all hope is lost.
My Thoughts: This is an author I’ve read before, she wrote The Wilds series which I really enjoyed. This book was an easy read, the plot kept me engaged enough to stick with it from start to finish and be done in a 2 day span. Despite that I would say there wasn’t enough in this book to make me pick up the second book at this time.
I’ve spent some time thinking about this because this is the type of book I’d typically really enjoy. I think there just wasn’t enough in this book to make me empathize with Jo, I don’t care about her enough to want to know what is going to happen next and the dynamics between Jo and Cormac were just nothing special, not bad but nothing that makes me root for them.
If this is a book your considering picking up I still say go for it, it’s free if you have Kindle Unlimited and if you have read the full series and think I should give it another shot, or can tell me it gets better let me know!
