My Thoughts: This was my first NetGalley read, and man I did not expect the emotions I got from this.  Firstly I have to say I LOVE the title of this book.  I mean, who doesn’t want to read a book with that title?

I will say this could possibly be triggering for people, it does talk about eating disorders, abuse, and sexual assault.  This book is raw, it’s full of emotions and I found myself unable to put it down.  I felt like I went on an emotional rollercoaster, I laughed, I cried (at some unexpected poems too), I cheered and I found myself more than once wanting to hug the author and hive five her.  I see on Goodreads that there is a first book of this and I’m not exactly sure what the difference is between the two (aside from page number) but I’d wait for the Feb 14, 2017 release of this book because I’d be afraid some of its impact would be lost.

I love the build from childhood struggles to eventual triumph and the last section I expected to be more motivational but it also had things to think about.  I prefer this because it feels very natural like it was random thought she wanted to share.

On a more technical level, I loved the creativity of the poetry, not only in the words but in the actual layout of the poems. I’ve only read classic poetry as a kid and have never seen anything like it so I don’t know if it’s common but it was well done, I feel it enhanced the poems instead of detracting from the words.

All in all I think this is the first 5 star I’ve given this year and I look forward to getting a physical copy.
